Mitsubishi Electric Enhances Occupational Safety in Crane Operations Through Technology

Istanbul — Mitsubishi Electric is contributing to higher occupational safety standards in high-risk working environments by offering advanced inverter, anti-sway, and automation solutions for the crane sector, the company said in a statement.

According to data from the International Labour Organization (ILO), a significant portion of workplace accidents worldwide occur in environments where heavy equipment is used. In Türkiye, figures released by the Social Security Institution (SGK) show that 733,646 workplace accidents were recorded in 2024.

This data highlights the growing importance of automation and advanced safety technologies that minimize process-related risks in high-risk applications such as crane operations and heavy industry. In response, Mitsubishi Electric has developed specialized inverter solutions tailored to the safety, continuity, and precision control requirements of crane applications.

Designed for Harsh Working Conditions

Mitsubishi Electric’s inverters, covering a power range from 0.4 kW to 1.3 MW, are designed to deliver high performance under challenging conditions, including hot, cold, humid, and dusty environments.

The systems are reinforced with double-layer varnish coating to ensure long service life, while the built-in PLC structure allows crane automation to be customized according to specific operational needs.

By reducing operator intervention, the systems help minimize human-related risks. They also support global communication protocols, enabling seamless integration with various control and automation systems. Features such as high overload capacity and brake synchronization allow loads to be transported in a controlled and stable manner.

Anti-Sway Technology for Safer Lifting

Load sway is one of the key factors directly affecting safety in crane operations. Mitsubishi Electric’s E800 and A800 series inverters are equipped with built-in anti-sway technology, which reduces load oscillation and enables more precise and controlled lifting operations.

By improving load positioning accuracy, the technology enhances operational efficiency while helping prevent load slippage and potential workplace accidents through synchronized braking, the company noted.
