
Turkey saw 31 provinces surpass 1 billion dollars in exports during the January–November period, while 45 provinces increased their export performance, according to data released by the Ministry of Trade on provincial export activity for November and the first 11 months of the year.
In November, Istanbul topped the list with 4.46 billion dollars in exports, although this represented a 12.5% decrease compared to the same month last year. Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli, which recorded a 14.3% increase with 2.88 billion dollars, and Bursa, which achieved 1.82 billion dollars, up 6.4% year-on-year.
In Istanbul’s export composition, precious or semi-precious stones ranked first with 645.2 million dollars, followed by knitted apparel and accessories at 453.3 million dollars, and boilers and machinery at 440.5 million dollars.
Kocaeli’s Exports Led by Motor Vehicles
Kocaeli’s largest export sector was motor vehicles, totaling 1.21 billion dollars. This was followed by electrical machinery and devices at 238.4 million dollars, and mineral fuels and oils at 215.6 million dollars.
In Bursa, motor vehicles also dominated exports with 727.7 million dollars, followed by boilers and machinery at 341.8 million dollars, and furniture, bedding, and lighting products at 116.5 million dollars.
Top Export Destinations for the Three Leading Provinces
- Istanbul’s largest export market was the United States, receiving 459.1 million dollars worth of goods. Germany followed with 315.3 million dollars, and the United Arab Emirates with 203.5 million dollars.
- Kocaeli exported the most to the United Kingdom, reaching 344.9 million dollars. Germany (259.7 million dollars) and Italy (176.7 million dollars) were the next largest markets.
- Bursa’s top export destination was Germany, with 280.1 million dollars, followed by France (268.1 million dollars) and Spain (148.1 million dollars).
In total, 31 provinces exceeded 1 billion dollars in exports during the January–November period, while 45 provinces achieved year-on-year export growth.
