Netflix will open an office in Istanbul as an investment on Turkish movies & series

Netflix continues to increase its investments in Turkey. Shortly after announcing that it will sign 10 new original productions in Turkey, Netflix announced that the company took another important step and decided to open an office in Istanbul.

The office planned to host the Netflix’s Turkey team will open its doors in the second half of 2021 and bring new employment opportunities. Republic of Turkey Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said:

‘’ Our cinema and TV series industry, which has experienced great development especially in the last fifteen years, has become one of the important tools of promotion and cultural diplomacy as well as its economic size. In this sense, I welcome the decision of a global company like Netflix to open an office in our country. The fact that series and movies produced in Turkey will be traceable in 190 countries will make our industry more visible in the international arena and contribute to the development of film tourism. ‘’

Reed Hastings the founder and Co-CEO of Netflix said:

‘’ Turkey is a country rich in culture and very valuable to us with a deep-rooted tradition of telling stories; therefore, we are proud to open an office in Istanbul, a magnificent city. This decision, which clearly demonstrates our commitment for Turkey, will contribute to our production of more Turkish productions that will be enjoyed all over the world. Thank you to our 3 million members in Turkey and supports of our stakeholders. ‘’

Pelin Distas, the original content director of Netflix Turkey said:

‘’ Turkey’s enthusiasm to tell impressive stories, gives us strength for our future investments. In this way, we believe that with the opening of our Istanbul office, our close work with our creative teams and stakeholders will continue even more efficiently. We will continue to present the original stories of our country to 195 million Netflix members. ‘’

Netflix had launched ‘Made in Turkey’ content collection in order for members around the world to reach the Turkish production long time ago via a special address (netflix.com/MadeInTurkey).

This collection can be accessed from anywhere in the world, original and licensed productions produced in Turkey can be watched with subtitles and dubbing options in over 30 different languages.

The United States, Argentina, Australia, United Kingdom, Brazil, France, India, Spain, Italy, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Chile are among the top 20 countries that watch Netflix’s original and licensed Turkish productions.
