Anadolu Efes has announced that Russian regulatory authorities have rejected the application of Efes Breweries International to acquire AB InBev’s non-controlling shares in AB InBev Efes. The company shared the update via a public disclosure on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
In the statement, Anadolu Efes recalled its special case announcement dated October 23, 2024, in which it had disclosed that new terms had been agreed upon between Anadolu Efes and Anheuser Busch InBev SA/NV (“AB InBev”) regarding Efes Breweries International B.V. (“EBI”)’s acquisition of AB InBev’s non-controlling shares in AB InBev Efes B.V. The completion of the transaction was subject to obtaining approvals from relevant authorities.
In this context, Anadolu Efes stated that the application was rejected by the Russian regulatory authorities, as expected, considering the developments during the review period. The company added that further steps with AB InBev are currently under evaluation.
As previously disclosed on December 30, 2024, following the transfer of its Russian operations to temporary management, the related assets have been classified under the “Financial Investments” line item in the company’s Q1 2025 financial statements.
