From the Trans Adriatic Natural Gas Pipeline (TAP), the last leg of the Southern Gas Corridor, 8.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas was transported to Europe in the first year of its commissioning.

According to the statement made on TAP’s Twitter account, 6.8 billion cubic meters of the total natural gas transported was delivered to Italy, and 1.2 billion cubic meters to Greece and Bulgaria.

Commercial gas flow in TAP, which transfers Azerbaijani gas to European markets, started on 31 December 2020.

TAP, together with the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the South Caucasus Pipeline, forms the European leg of the Southern Gas Corridor, a $40 billion value chain.

TAP, which was built to transport the natural gas extracted from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz 2 field to Europe, is affiliated to TANAP on the Turkey-Greece border.
