New PCR application for passengers coming from abroad

A certain number of passengers who have come to Turkey from abroad within the scope of coronavirus measures and who have a PCR test can be retested by the Ministry of Health on the basis of sampling at airports. It was learned that the purpose of the test was to question the accuracy of the negative PCR test in the hands of the passengers.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) has updated the Turkey entry table within the scope of coronavirus measures. With the update, a certain number of passengers arriving on flights to Turkey from abroad will be retested. The statement made on the subject said:

“A PCR test report with a negative result will not be requested separately, and quarantine measures will not be applied to those who submit a document issued by the relevant country’s official authorities that they have been vaccinated at least 14 days before entering our country and/or have had the disease within the last 6 months. In the event that the vaccination certificate or the documents proving that they have had the disease cannot be presented when entering our country, the PCR test report with a negative result maximum 72 hours before the entry or the submission of the negative rapid antigen test result maximum 48 hours before the entry will be deemed sufficient. Persons entering our country may be subjected to PCR testing on the basis of sampling at their destination by the Ministry of Health. In this context, people will be allowed to go to their final destination after the test samples are taken, and if the test results are positive, they will be treated in line with the COVID19 guide of the Ministry of Health. People with close contact with people with positive test results will be quarantined for a period of 14 days at the addresses they have determined, and quarantine conditions will be terminated if the PCR test results at the end of the 10th day are negative. The quarantine conditions of those who are found to be carrying the Indian mutant will be terminated with a negative PCR test result at the end of the 14th day. In addition, the passenger information form on register.health.gov.tr must be filled 72 hours before the trip.”
