Turkiye: Tea exports exceeded $3.2 million

Tea exports from Turkiye in the first two months of the year increased by 8% and reached $3 million 274 thousand 872.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union (DKIB) Vice Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that tea was sold to 76 countries, autonomous and free zones in 10 months from the country.

Gurdogan stated that 661 tons of tea was exported in January-February 2023, and an income of $3 million 274 thousand 872 was provided.

Stating that $3 million 40 thousand 290 were earned from tea exports in the same period of last year, Gurdogan continued his words as follows:

“Our tea exports increased by 8% in value compared to the same period of the previous year. Belgium, the United Kingdom and the TRNC became the 3 countries with the highest tea exports. This period, $1 million 149 thousand 846 of tea was exported to Belgium, $397 thousand 463 to the United Kingdom and $368 thousand 934 to the TRNC.”

Noting that the diversity of countries increased in parallel with the increase in exports, Gurdogan stated that tea was also sold to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Denmark, Moldova, Slovakia, Romania, Italy, Norway, Guinea, Kenya, Panama, Indonesia, Lithuania, Taiwan Malaysia and Rwanda during this period.

Noting that tea exports started the year well, Gurdogan added that he believes that the export of the said product will continue its increasing trend.
