Occupancy rate record in May from THY

Turkish Airlines (THY) carried a total of 7.4 million passengers in May, reaching an occupancy rate of 81.8%. With this figure, THY recorded the highest May performance in its history.

According to the statement made by the THY Press Office, the total number of passengers increased by 16% in May compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 7.4 million, with a 82% international passenger load factor and 80.7% domestic load factor.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers of the company was 1.9 million in May 2022, it increased by 22.2% to 2.3 million in the same period of 2023.

While the Total Seat Kilometers (AKK) Supplied in May 2022 was 17.6 billion, it increased by 13% to 19.9 billion in the same period of 2023.

Cargo and mail volume, which was 144 thousand tons in May 2022, decreased by 6.6% in the same period of this year and was recorded as 134.5 thousand tons.

In the January-May period, the number of passengers increased, cargo decreased

According to the January-May 2023 traffic results evaluation, the number of passengers carried by THY increased by 29% compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 31 million.

The number of international-to-international transfer passengers, which was 7.8 million in the January-May 2022 period, increased by 49% to 11.6 million in the same period of 2023.

Total passenger load factor increased by 7.5 points in the January-May period compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 81.1%. International passenger load factor was 81.2%, domestic load factor was 80.2%.

While the Total Seat Kilometers (AKK) Supplied in January-May period was 71.9 billion in 2022, it reached 90.4 billion in 2023 with an increase of 25.8%.

While the volume of cargo and mail transported was 672.8 thousand tons in 2022, it was recorded as 608.1 thousand tons with a decrease of 9.6% in the January-May period this year.

At the end of May, the number of aircraft in THY’s fleet reached 417.
