One out of every five houses was sold in Istanbul

In the first half of the year, 20% (108 thousand 51 units) of the 553 thousand houses sold throughout Turkey changed hands in Istanbul. According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), house sales across the country in the first half of the year decreased by 11.5% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 552 thousand 810. In the said period, the highest sales figure was reached in Istanbul with 108 thousand 51 units.

ANKARA WAS IN THE SECOND PLACE

One in five residences across the country was sold in a megacity. Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 53 thousand 575 units, Izmir with 31 thousand 683, Antalya with 24 thousand 446, Bursa with 20 thousand 537, Mersin with 16 thousand 643, Konya with 13 thousand 587, Gaziantep with 13 thousand 314, Kocaeli with 13 thousand 172, Tekirdag with 13 thousand 159. Hakkari was the province with the lowest housing sales in the first 6 months, with 107 units. Along with Hakkari, Ardahan ranked second last with 110 units.
