Pegasus Hava Yolları has inaugurated the first phase of its aircraft maintenance center investment at Sabiha Gökçen Havalimanı, expanding its technical capacity and capabilities.
According to a company statement, the project—launched on January 9, 2025, and completed within a year—has entered service with two maintenance hangars and one paint hangar. The new facilities will enable simultaneous line and base maintenance for up to five narrow-body aircraft.
The first phase, implemented with an investment of approximately $40 million, aims to optimize time and resource use in maintenance processes, enhance operational efficiency and reduce aircraft ground time due to maintenance. The project has also created around 200 additional jobs.
The facility includes 18,000 square meters of indoor space, supported by a 25,000-square-meter apron area. Located between two runways, the center is equipped to service all narrow-body aircraft types, including the Boeing 737 Next Generation and the Airbus A320 family, covering both CEO and NEO models.
Second Phase to Be Completed by End-2026
The center will carry out a wide range of technical operations, including line maintenance, engine and landing gear replacements, avionics and structural modifications, base maintenance procedures, aircraft painting, and exterior livery design and coating applications.
The second phase of the investment is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. This stage will add another hangar capable of providing base maintenance for five additional narrow-body aircraft. A third phase is planned to expand total capacity to serve 10 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously.
Designed in line with Pegasus’ digital maintenance and sustainability vision, the facility incorporates paperless maintenance processes, digital warehouse and tool management systems, unmanned personal protective equipment dispensers and AI-supported occupational health solutions.
Preventive maintenance activities and data analytics systems will enable predictive identification of maintenance needs. The hangar construction also prioritizes energy efficiency and sustainable waste management infrastructure.
The center will primarily serve Pegasus’ growing fleet. In the future, depending on capacity availability, maintenance services may also be offered to other airlines.
