The rules governing the tariff quota opened to exempt certain nylon and polyamide yarn types from the protective measure applied to their imports have been finalized.
The “Communiqué on the Administration of Quotas and Tariff Quotas in Imports,” prepared by the Ministry of Trade, was published in the Official Gazette.
The communiqué establishes the procedures and principles for the use of the tariff quota introduced to provide exemption from the safeguard measure applied to the import of certain nylon and polyamide yarn products.
According to the regulation, the tariff quota amount will be 2,986 tons for each period in which the additional financial obligation is in force. For goods originating from any single country or customs region, the tariff quota allocated per period may not exceed 995 tons.
The allocation of the tariff quota will be carried out by customs administrations on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the order of customs declarations. During the registration of the customs declaration, the declarant must select the relevant exemption code.
Each customs declaration may receive a maximum allocation of 15 tons under the tariff quota. After using the quota, importing companies will not be allowed to benefit from the quota again until 30 days after the declaration registration date.
Information on the current status of tariff quota usage will be announced on the Ministry of Trade’s website under the e-Transactions section.
