Professional standards & licence for herbalists will be issued in Turkey

Ankara Chamber of Trade (ATO) and Professional Competency Board (MYK) signed the Collaboration Protocol of Preparing National Standard for Herbalist Profession. According to the statement of ATO, a signing ceremony was held for the protocol. Gursel Baran, the board chairman of ATO and Adem Ceylan, the president of MYK signed the protocol.

Gursel Baran said:

‘’Many people assuming the title of professional competency are needed in the sector. This protocol will benefit the sector. Herbalists will be in smooth water after they get the professional competency. Our contribution to the economy via export will also increase. ‘’

Baran emphasized that the alternative medicine have been used increasingly lately from Asia to Europe and said:

‘’ Herbalists should know about our problems and have the required amount of knowledge and experience. Our youngsters see the herbalist job as temporary and do not take it seriously now; yet, herbalist people will have a licensed profession after the occupational standards will be determined.’’

Adem Ceylan also said:

‘’ Our studies regarding the improvement of a powerful and sufficient work force are still continued. We have target to reached to the government’s 2023 goal of having 1 million qualified and licensed labour force already in 2020. We have imposed certificate obligation to 143 professions such as; construction, energy, textile, automotive.’’

Ceylan lastly, thanked to ATO for their collaboration.
