UK Emerges as Top Market for Turkiye’s Light Commercial Vehicle and Truck Exports

The main market for Turkiye’s exports of “motor vehicles for transporting goods”, which includes light commercial vehicles, pickup trucks and trucks, in the January-March period was the United Kingdom.

The automotive industry exported products worth $9 billion 132 million 431 thousand in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period of 2023.

Exports of “motor vehicles for transporting goods”, which constitute 18.7% of this figure, increased by 32.72% in the January-March period compared to the same period of the previous year, rising from $1 billion 286 million 159 thousand to $1 billion 706 million 965 thousand.

In the January-March period, sales were made to 73 countries and autonomous and free zones.

The country to which the sector exported the most in this product group was the United Kingdom.

Last year, $291 million 119 thousand of “motor vehicles for transporting goods” were exported to the United Kingdom in the January-March period, while this year, $433 million 517 thousand of exports were made in the same months of this year, with an increase of 49%.

3-month exports to the United Kingdom corresponded to 25.39% of the total exports of light commercial vehicles, pickup trucks and trucks in the January-March period.

Exports to Italy, which ranks second, reached $264 million 581 thousand from $200 million 652 thousand, an increase of 31.86% compared to the same period in 2023.

Exports of sector representatives to Slovenia, which is in the third step, increased by 24.61% from $180 million 398 thousand to $224 million 800 thousand.

Exports to Belgium from Turkiye increased by 88%

Exports to Belgium in the January-March period increased by 88.19% compared to the same period in 2023. Exports of “motor vehicles for transporting goods” to this country, which was $99 million 430 thousand in the first quarter of last year, increased to $187 million 122 thousand in the same period of this year.

Exports of light commercial vehicles, pickup trucks and trucks to France, the 5th largest market, increased by 14.17% in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of 2023, reaching $176 million 255 thousand from $154 million 372 thousand.

Germany ranked sixth with a 60% increase and $67.645 million, Spain ranked seventh with a 26% decrease and $47.632 million, Denmark ranked eighth with a 21% increase and $39.517 million, Australia ranked ninth with a 98% increase and $35.170 million, while Norway ranked tenth with a 316% increase and $24.139 million in exports of light commercial vehicles, pickups, and trucks.
