US trade deficit falls to $87.1B in April

Exports increase, imports decrease month-on-month in April

The US trade deficit was at $87.1 billion in March,down $20.6 billion from April, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

The deficit hit a record $107.7 billion in March.

Exports rose 3.5% to $252.6 billion while imports fell 3.4% to $339.7 billion month-on-month in April.

Natural gas exports increased $0.9 billion over the same period, while other petroleum products rose $0.7 billion.

The US goods imports fell $13 billion to $283.8 billion.
