Regulation on the protection measures applied in the import of certain products

Within the scope of surveillance and protection measures in imports, some stones, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips and Iranian origin BOPP film import practices were changed.

The Communiqué Amending the Communiqué on the Implementation of Surveillance in Imports, prepared by the Ministry of Commerce, was published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, some of the processed stones suitable for chipping and construction, with a CIF value of less than $500 per ton, will be subject to surveillance regardless of country.

The Communiqué will enter into force after 30 days.

The “Communiqué on Safeguard Measures in Imports” of the Ministry was also published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the Committee for Evaluation of Safeguard Measures in Imports decided to open an investigation on the subject, upon the application made by domestic manufacturers to extend the duration of the protection measure applied in the import of PET chips.

In addition, it has been decided to open an investigation upon the application made by domestic producers to extend the period of the protection measure, which will expire on July 1, applied to the import of Iranian origin BOPP film.

As a result of the investigation, it was decided to apply a protection measure in the form of a 3-year quantity restriction (quota) for the import of the Iranian origin of the relevant product.

The notification will enter into force on 2 July.
