Renault Group’s global sales down by 5.9% in 2022

Group’s top 5 markets were France, Germany, Italy, Turkiye, and Brazil in 2022

French automobile manufacturer Renault Group’s global sales posted a decline of 5.9% in 2022, to stand at 2.05 million units, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The group’s top five markets were France, Germany, Italy, Turkiye, and Brazil last year.

While Renault’s sales totaled 1.4 million in 2022, down 9.4% on a yearly basis, the sales of Dacia, Romanian manufacturer now owned by the French company,amounted to 573,837 units last year, increasing 6.8%.

Meanwhile, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) data, the EU passenger car registrations shrank 4.6% last year on a yearly basis.

Due to supply chains problems, especially for semi-conductors, owing to pandemic restrictions particularly in China, many sectors lowered their production activities last year, including automotive.

Increasing prices among global issues, especially the Russia-Ukraine war, also affected sales all around the world.
