Global fintech company Revolut has opened limited access to its services in Turkey, with users now able to join a waiting list as part of its gradual market entry.
According to reports, the London-based digital banking platform has begun accepting registrations from Turkish users, signaling a soft launch phase ahead of full operations. The move is seen as a key step in the company’s long-anticipated expansion into the Turkish market.
Gradual Market Entry
Industry sources indicate that Revolut is initially offering restricted access, allowing the company to test demand and infrastructure before a broader rollout. This phased approach is commonly used by fintech firms entering new markets with complex regulatory environments.
Revolut, which has grown rapidly worldwide, currently serves tens of millions of users globally and offers services such as multi-currency accounts, low-cost international transfers, and digital banking features.
Regulatory Process Still Key
Despite the initial access opening, Revolut’s full-scale operations in Turkey are still expected to depend on regulatory approvals. The company has previously explored entering the market by acquiring a licensed local digital bank, a move that would require authorization from Turkey’s banking regulator.
Experts note that entering Turkey through a licensed entity could help Revolut accelerate its expansion while navigating regulatory requirements more efficiently.
Strong Interest from Users
The introduction of a waiting list suggests strong early demand from Turkish users, particularly given the country’s high interest in digital banking and foreign currency transactions.
Turkey’s young, tech-savvy population and growing fintech ecosystem make it an attractive market for global players seeking expansion opportunities.
Outlook
While the opening of access marks a significant milestone, analysts emphasize that Revolut’s long-term success in Turkey will depend on regulatory approval, local partnerships, and competitive positioning in an already dynamic financial services market.
