Rönesans Holding has formed a strategic partnership with Digital Realty, one of the world’s largest data center platforms, to develop and operate next-generation data centers in Türkiye.
The partnership’s first investment has begun in Temelli, Ankara, with plans to expand to Istanbul. Over the long term, the companies aim to reach 200 MW of IT capacity, with total investment potential of up to $3 billion.
First Data Center Investment in Ankara
The first phase of the Ankara data center campus is planned to provide more than 22 MW of IT capacity and over 10,000 square meters of data center space. The facility is targeted to begin operations in 2028.
The project is designed to support growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, connectivity and enterprise digital infrastructure in Türkiye.
Rönesans Holding Honorary Chairman Erman Ilıcak said the partnership combines Digital Realty’s global expertise with Rönesans’ investment, financing and project execution capabilities.
“Data centers have become one of the key infrastructure components determining the competitiveness of countries,” Ilıcak said.
Istanbul Expansion Planned
Following the Ankara investment, the partnership plans to develop a second data center campus in Istanbul, Türkiye’s largest commercial, financial and connectivity hub.
The companies aim to establish a highly connected digital infrastructure platform serving domestic and international customers, including cloud providers, technology companies, telecommunications operators and multinational enterprises.
Digital Realty Chief Investment Officer Greg Wright said the partnership is intended to address increasing demand for cloud, AI and enterprise infrastructure in Türkiye.
Digital Realty operates more than 300 data centers across more than 50 metropolitan areas in over 30 countries on six continents, according to the company.
Investment Potential of Up to $3 Billion
The partnership targets a combined 200 MW of IT capacity across its planned Ankara and Istanbul facilities over the long term, representing investment potential of up to $3 billion.
Rönesans said the planned capacity would correspond to approximately 20% of Türkiye’s 1 GW data center capacity target for 2030 under the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Action Plan.
