Aegean Region’s exports exceeded $28 billion

Aegean Exporters’ Associations achieved an export of $16 billion 325 million in 2021. EIB managed to increase its exports of $13 billion 4 million in 2020 by 26%.

Aegean Region’s exports increased by 29% from $21 billion 800 million to $28 billion 158 million. Izmir realized 53% of the Aegean Region exports with an export of $14 billion 815 million. Aegean Exporters’ Association, which showed an export performance of $1 billion 560 million with an increase of 24% in December, reached the highest export level in its 82-year history on a monthly basis. EIB signed an export of $1 billion 256 million in December 2020.

11 OF 12 UNIONS INCREASED THEIR EXPORTS

While 11 of the 12 exporters’ unions within the body of Aegean Exporters’ Associations increased their exports compared to 2020, there was a decrease in the exports of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association. While the industrial sectors contributed $9 billion 528 million to the exports of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, the exports of the industrial sectors increased by 37%. While the agricultural sectors increased their exports from $5 billion 95 million to $5 billion 716 million with an increase of 12%, the mining sector was represented by the Aegean Exporters’ Association with an export figure of $1 billion 81 million.

TEXTILE INDUSTRY HAS THE RECORD INCREASE IN EXPORTS

Within the body of Aegean Exporters’ Associations, Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association became the record holder of the export increase in 2021 with an increase of 66%. ETHİB, which achieved an export of $240 million in 2020, succeeded in exporting $398 million in 2021.

THEY INCREASED TO THE SUMMIT IN 2021

Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association, as in 2020, was the union that made the most exports among the 12 exporters’ unions within the EİB in 2021. EDDMİB increased its exports, which was $1 billion 361 million in 2020, to $2 billion 241 million in 2021 with an increase of 65%.

CHEMISTS DESERVE EXPORTERS’ UNION

Aegean chemists, who are not represented under the umbrella of Aegean Exporters’ Associations, left the year 2021 behind with an export performance of $1 billion 838 million and once again demonstrated with export figures that there should be exporter unions within the EIB.

$1.5 BILLION MISSING IN THE EXPORTS OF THE READY-CLOTHING INDUSTRY

Entering 2021 with an export target of $1.5 billion, the Aegean Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Exporters’ Association brought $1 billion 489 million of exports to Turkey.

FOOD EXPORT’S CHAMPION HAS BEEN FISHERY PRODUCTS AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS

Aquaculture, poultry meat, eggs, milk and dairy products, honey sectors achieved new successes in exports in 2021. Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association increased its exports from $982 million to $1 billion 314 million with an increase of 34% and became the export champion among the 6 food associations within the EIB. Breaking new records every year in the export of fresh fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products, the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association did not break the tradition in 2021 as well. Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association, which exceeded the threshold of $1 billion for the first time with $1 billion 40 million of exports in 2020, increased its exports by 14% to $1 billion 182 million in 2021. Another union that passed the $1 billion threshold under the umbrella of Aegean Exporters’ Associations in 2021 was the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association. EMİB increased its exports, which was $931 million in 2020, by 16% and recorded a foreign exchange income of $1 billion 81 million. Exporting our traditional export products of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs to all over the world, the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association closed the year 2021 with $862 million of exports, while the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association showed an export performance of $731 million. Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, where exporters of paper, furniture and non-wood forest products are clustered, achieved an export growth rate of 12% in 2021 and increased its exports from $645 million to $722 million.

EXPORT OF GRAIN, LEGUMES OIL SEEDS INCREASED BY 35%

Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, dominated by the vegetable oil industry, managed to increase its exports, which was $505 million in 2020, to $683 million in 2021 with an increase of 35%. Gathering Turkey’s olive and olive oil exporters under its umbrella, the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association showed an export growth of 17.4% in 2021 and brought in $187 million of foreign currency to Turkey. Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association, in which the shoe industry is a drag, increased its exports from $129 million to $170 million in 2021. EDDMIB’s export growth rate in 2021 was recorded as 32%.

ESKİNAZİ: “2021 HAS BEEN A GOLDEN YEAR IN EXPORTS”

Aegean Exporters’ Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said that Turkish exporters brought $225 billion 368 million to Turkey in 2021, and Aegean Exporters’ Union members contributed $16 billion 325 million to this export, that the export target of $214 billion set for the end of 2023 in the Medium-Term Stability Program was passed at the end of 2021, and 2021 was a golden year for exporters.

AEGEAN REGION EXPORTS EXCEEDED $28 BILLION

The Aegean Region’s exports in 2021 increased by 29% from $21 billion 800 million to $28 billion 158 million. Izmir increased its export from $11 billion 710 million in 2020 to $14 billion 815 million in 2021, and realized 53% of the Aegean Region exports on its own. While Izmir’s exports increased by 27% in 2021, two free zones in Izmir contributed $2 billion 585 million to exports.

MANISA EXCEEDS $5 BILLION

Manisa, where the electrical-electronics sector is the leader in exports, improved its exports by 25% in 2021 and recorded an export of $5 billion 205 million. Another province in the Aegean Region that stands out with its exporting character, Denizli increased its exports by 43% from $3 billion 191 million to $4 billion 574 million in 2021. While Aydin achieved an export of $859 million, Balikesir followed Aydin with an export of $790 million. Mugla increased its exports from $592 million to $774 million with an increase of 31% in 2021. While Kutahya, the capital of porcelain exports, was represented with $390 million of exports in 2021, Afyon, dominated by natural stone and egg exports, brought $380 million of foreign currency to Turkey. Usak, where the carpet, blanket and poultry industries are strong, increased its exports of $239 million in 2020 to $369 million with an increase of 54%, and became the record holder for the increase in exports in the Aegean Region.

EXPORTS FROM EIB TO 3 COUNTRIES EXCEED $1 BILLION

While the Aegean Exporters’ Associations exported more than $1 billion to Germany alone in 2020, it also exceeded the $1 billion threshold in exports to the United States and England in 2021. The number of countries and customs areas to which EIB exports is 211. European Union countries took the biggest slice with a share of $7 billion 485 million from EİB’s exports of $16 billion 325 million in 2021. EIB members made the biggest increase in exports to the Americas with 37% in 2021, and exports to the Americas reached $1 billion 903 million. While the Aegean exporters exported $1 billion 726 million to the Middle East countries in 2021, their exports to Asia and Oceania increased from $941 million to $1 billion 276 million with a 36% improvement. EIB’s exports to African countries, on the other hand, showed a 26% improvement and were recorded as $1 billion 249 million.
