Sakarya, a prominent player in Turkiye’s automotive export industry, recorded exports worth $1.882 billion in the first four months of the year. This marks a 5.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The automotive sector dominated Sakarya’s exports, contributing $1.652 billion.
Export Performance and Rankings
Sakarya maintained its position as the 7th largest exporting province in Turkiye, following Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara, and Gaziantep. The province’s exports accounted for 2.6% of Turkiye’s total exports from January to April.
Sectoral Export Details
The city’s robust automotive industry, home to major production facilities like Toyota, TürkTraktör, and Otokar, led the way, making up 87.7% of Sakarya’s total exports. Automotive exports alone saw a 4.8% year-on-year increase, reaching $1.652 billion.
Other significant export sectors included iron and non-ferrous metals ($45.159 million), chemicals and products ($30.494 million), steel ($28.356 million), machinery and parts ($21.676 million), and the air conditioning industry ($19.638 million).
Top Export Destinations
In the first four months, Sakarya’s largest export destination was France, with sales amounting to $301.549 million—a 64.1% increase from the previous year. The United Kingdom followed with $217.222 million, then Poland with $170.766 million, Italy with $158.637 million, and Germany with $155.202 million.
These export figures reflect Sakarya’s significant role in Turkiye’s economy, particularly in the automotive sector, and highlight its expanding reach in the global market.
