Salmon exports increased by 142% in 9 months

Salmon exports from Turkiye in the 9 months of the year increased by 142% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $270 million 998 thousand. Russia, Germany and Japan were the countries with the highest exports.

According to the compilation made by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 36,906 tons of salmon were exported to 35 countries in the January-September period of this year.

The export in question increased by 142% compared to the same period of the previous year and rose to $270 million 998 thousand 873.

The Russian Federation, Germany and Japan were the countries that exported the most salmon.

During this period, $143 million 264 thousand of salmon was exported to the Russian Federation, $33 million 658 thousand to Germany and $29 million 734 thousand to Japan.

In this period, 13 thousand 874 tons of salmon worth $100 million 982 thousand were sent to 13 countries from the Black Sea, where 37% of the country’s exports are carried out.

Ismail Kobya, Member of the Board of Directors of DKIB and Chairman of the Fisheries Sector Committee, said that salmon is in high demand from abroad.

Emphasizing that as DKIB, they are making great efforts to promote Turkish salmon in this context, Kobya continued his words as follows:

“We will open a booth at the aquaculture fair to be held in Busan, South Korea in the first week of November to promote Turkish salmon. It is planned to bring Turkish salmon exports to the forefront as part of this promotion event to South Korea, which is an important salmon importer.”

Pointing out that Turkish salmon comes to the fore with its taste and quality every day, Kobya noted that they believe that the year will be completed with much better figures in exports.
