Samsung Completes Acquisition of FläktGroup

Samsung Electronics has finalized the acquisition of FläktGroup, a global provider of central air conditioning and precision cooling solutions for various industries and markets.

According to the company’s announcement, Samsung made this strategic investment to expand its commercial and industrial presence in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Samsung plans to leverage FläktGroup’s production and sales capabilities to expand R&D activities and gradually integrate products and services to strengthen its supply chain.

FläktGroup subsidiaries—including Woods Air Movement, which specializes in ventilation and fire safety solutions; SEMCO, an expert in air handling and airflow technologies; and SE-Elektronic, known for its advanced, custom-designed automation systems—will also operate under Samsung.

FläktGroup will continue to operate as an independent Samsung subsidiary with the same name, management, personnel, and facilities, maintaining its technological expertise and brand identity.

With this acquisition, Samsung aims to develop its HVAC business—positioned as a new growth engine within the Device Experience division—in a strategic framework. The company plans to continue investing in commercial HVAC solutions and expand into high-growth sectors such as AI-focused data centers.

Samsung Aims to Boost Service Capacity

Samsung plans to establish strong supply chains and enhance service capabilities in South Korea, North America, and Europe to meet the growing demand for air conditioning systems in large-scale facilities such as factories, commercial complexes, hospitals, biopharmaceutical plants, and marine-related industrial areas.

In addition to its joint venture with Lennox to strengthen its presence in the North American market, Samsung’s acquisition of FläktGroup will further reinforce its position in HVAC solutions through expanded expertise.

Samsung will integrate FläktGroup’s advanced HVAC control systems with its building management platforms—SmartThings Pro and b.IoT—opening new opportunities in smart building technologies and energy efficiency.

FläktGroup operates more than 10 manufacturing sites for central HVAC products and maintains a wide sales and service network across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia. The company has also participated in various large-scale projects, including the Stargate Project.

The group provides specialized solutions for the demands of the data center industry and the fast-growing artificial intelligence sector. To respond quickly to rising U.S. demand, FläktGroup has formed a dedicated North American data center team and invested in a Singapore-based global customer team to offer closer and more efficient support for major clients.

“A Strategic Move”

TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Device Experience Division, described the acquisition as a strategic step toward strengthening Samsung’s leadership in the global HVAC and data center markets.

“By combining FläktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to pioneer innovations in the industry and deliver cutting-edge solutions to our customers,” Roh said.

FläktGroup CEO Trevor Young stated that joining Samsung will accelerate global growth and foster technological innovation.

“The synergy between our companies will be a significant milestone in developing the HVAC solutions of the future,” Young added.
