ISTANBUL – Samsung Electronics will introduce the redesigned version of its artificial intelligence assistant Bixby to users in Türkiye on Feb. 25, alongside the rollout of One UI 8.5.
According to a company statement, the updated Bixby, announced under a beta program, features a more conversational structure aimed at enabling Galaxy users to control their devices through natural dialogue. The new version is designed to reduce the time and effort required to manage device settings.
Samsung’s latest innovations will be unveiled at the “Galaxy Unpacked” event, scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Türkiye time on Feb. 25.
More Natural and Intuitive Interaction
With the new update, users no longer need to know specific setting names to control their devices. Instead, they can manage applications and system settings using their own expressions in a conversational format.
For example, when a user says, “I don’t want the screen to turn off while I’m looking at it,” Bixby automatically activates the relevant setting. Similarly, if asked, “Why does my screen stay on when my phone is in my pocket?” the assistant provides contextual analysis and suggests related features such as accidental touch protection.
The company expects this approach to reduce trial-and-error processes and help users complete tasks more quickly.
Real-Time Search Capabilities
The updated Bixby also supports real-time internet search functionality through Perplexity AI, enabling access to live and up-to-date information directly within the Bixby interface. This allows users to retrieve information without switching to a separate browser or application.
For instance, when prompted with “Find hotels in Seoul with swimming pools for children,” Bixby displays relevant search results within its own interface.
The Bixby update will initially be available as part of One UI 8.5 in select markets, including Germany, India, South Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States, with a gradual rollout planned for additional markets.
Executive Statement
Commenting on the launch, Samsung Electronics Mobile eXperience (MX) Chief Operating Officer Won-Joon Choi recalled that the company introduced its first AI-powered mobile devices in 2024 and aims to make artificial intelligence more accessible and easier to use.
“We decided to integrate a device assistant directly into the experience,” Choi said. “To support this, we redesigned Bixby to deliver more natural interactions and intuitive device control.”
