Sea snail exports brought $7.1 million to Turkiye

Sea snails worth $7 million 113 thousand 563 were exported to 7 countries in 10 months of the year from Turkiye.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that 857 tons of sea snails were exported in January-October 2022.

Stating that $7 million 113 thousand 563 were gained from the foreign sales in question, Gurdogan stated that the Republic of South Korea leads the way in exports to 7 countries.

Noting that $5 million 126 thousand 471 of sea snails were exported to South Korea, Gurdogan said, “The Republic of South Korea was followed by the People’s Republic of China with $946 thousand 120 and Japan with $426 thousand 100. Sea snails were also sold to Taiwan, the USA, Italy and Georgia during this period.”

High expectations for year-end exports

Stating that $6 million 912 thousand 663 of sea snails were exported from the Black Sea to 5 countries, especially the Republic of South Korea, Gurdogan said that other countries are the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Taiwan and the USA.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan emphasized that sea snails, which are at the forefront with their exports despite not being consumed in Turkiye, make a significant economic contribution to the country.

Gurdogan added that they have high expectations for year-end exports.
