The services sector accounted for 48.4% of active businesses in Türkiye in 2025, followed by the trade sector at 31.6% and industry at 12.4%, according to preliminary data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
The services sector also represented 41.2% of total employment, while industry accounted for 26.1% of employment.
Trade Leads in Turnover
Despite having the largest number of businesses and the highest employment share, the services sector accounted for 17.8% of total turnover.
The trade sector ranked first in turnover, with a 46.8% share, while industry accounted for 28.5% of total turnover.
Manufacturing Records Highest Production Value
Manufacturing recorded the highest production value in 2025 at 27.886 trillion Turkish liras.
This was followed by:
- Trade: 9.134 trillion liras
- Construction: 7.976 trillion liras
- Transportation and storage: 6.801 trillion liras
- Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution: 4.422 trillion liras
More Than 4 Million Active Businesses
The number of active businesses reached 4,016,059 in 2025.
According to the preliminary figures, total turnover stood at 124.816 trillion liras, while production value reached 71.351 trillion liras. Value added at factor cost was recorded at 22.201 trillion liras, and total purchases of goods and services amounted to 108.507 trillion liras.
Total employment stood at 20,122,817 people.
Low-Tech Activities Dominate Manufacturing
In the manufacturing industry, 54.4% of businesses operated in low-technology activities.
These businesses accounted for 47.9% of manufacturing employment and 35.8% of manufacturing turnover.
TÜİK said the final results for 2025, along with revised historical series covering the 2009–2024 period, will be published in December.
