“Sustainable and Digital Campus” initiative delivers solar power and automation systems
Siemens Türkiye has successfully completed its energy efficiency project with Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and digital transformation.
According to a statement from the company, the project was implemented under the vision of creating a “Sustainable and Digital Campus.” As part of the initiative, a solar power plant (GES), zone-based control systems, and closed-pool automation were installed at Eyüboğlu Burçak Eyüboğlu West Ataşehir Campus. These implementations enabled both the use of renewable energy and significant energy savings.
The solar energy generated from the GES will meet the energy demands of the West Ataşehir Campus. At full capacity, the project is expected to yield 148 megawatt-hours of solar power annually, along with savings of 1,000 megawatt-hours of natural gas and the prevention of nearly 283 tons of carbon emissions.
In addition to the energy improvements at the Ataşehir campus, fire detection, CCTV, and building automation systems were implemented at the Çamlıca Campus. All systems are integrated into a centralized management platform using Siemens’ DesigoCC building management system.
Siemens Türkiye CEO Hüseyin Gelis emphasized the significant energy-saving potential in educational institutions across Turkey, stating:
“Buildings account for approximately 40% of global energy consumption. One of the biggest challenges for educational institutions today is reducing the carbon emissions of their campuses. This collaboration with Eyüboğlu serves as a prime example for institutions creating carbon reduction strategies. Our digital building solutions not only helped Eyüboğlu lower its operational costs but also enabled them to better manage energy demand while upgrading their infrastructure to cutting-edge technology.”
Tolga Afşin, Country Head of the Smart Infrastructure – Buildings Division at Siemens Türkiye, explained that the project began with sustainability assessments of the buildings.
“At Burçak Eyüboğlu Primary and Secondary School, 47% of energy consumption is now met via solar power. In the second phase, we implemented fire detection, CCTV, digital services, and closed pool climate control systems. With the solar plant and room automation systems, the school both produces clean energy and saves on current consumption. New-generation security systems have also been deployed. The investment is expected to pay off in three and a half years.”
Cenk Eyüboğlu, Chairman and General Manager of Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions, noted that the “Sustainable Campus” partnership not only reduced their carbon footprint but also educated future generations on environmental awareness, helping raise environmentally conscious and sustainability-equipped individuals.
