Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said Türkiye achieved TL 484 billion in savings through public-sector spending measures during 2024-2025, noting that the amount exceeds the combined 2026 budgets of six ministries.
Şimşek made the remarks while discussing the government’s public-sector savings measures and efforts to strengthen fiscal discipline.
According to the minister, TL 484 billion in savings was achieved across the public sector over the 2024-2025 period. He emphasized the scale of the figure by noting that it is larger than the total 2026 budgets allocated to six ministries.
The savings form part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the efficiency of public spending and maintain fiscal discipline.
The government has been implementing measures aimed at limiting unnecessary public expenditures while prioritizing more efficient use of state resources.
Şimşek has repeatedly highlighted fiscal discipline as a key component of Türkiye’s economic program, alongside the fight against inflation and efforts to strengthen macroeconomic stability.
The latest figures underline the government’s focus on controlling public expenditure and reducing waste as part of its medium-term economic policy framework.
