Israel: First aviation agreement to be signed with Turkiye since 1951

In a statement made by the Israeli Ministry of Transport, it was stated that such an agreement would be made for the first time since 1951.

The ministry statement said:

“The agreement is expected to result in the resumption of Turkish companies’ flights to Israel, as well as Israeli companies’ flights to various destinations in Turkiye.”

COMMERCIAL ATTACHE IS EXPECTED TO BE RE-OPENED

However, Israel is preparing to reopen its economic and commercial attaché operating under its diplomatic representations in Turkiye. “The reopening of the economic attaché reflects Israel’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Turkiye,” said Orna Barbivai, Israeli Minister of Economy.

Barbivai also stated that they aim to organize a joint economic conference between Turkiye and Israel in the near future for the first time in ten years.

Israel’s Ministry of Economy said the attaché will assist more than 1,500 Israeli companies currently exporting to Turkiye.

The two countries mutually expelled their ambassadors in 2018, and the normalization process began when Israeli President Isaac Herzog paid an official visit to Turkiye last March, at the invitation of AKP Chairman and President Erdogan.
