Turkiye and Saudi Arabia will cooperate in agriculture

The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture signed between the parties covers issues such as adaptation of the agricultural sector to climate change, ensuring sustainable supply of agricultural products, biotechnology, organic agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli stated that the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture” was signed during the meeting held between the delegations with Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia.

Yumakli, in his post on the subject on his social media account, said, “I hope that the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture that we signed at the end of our meeting will be beneficial.”

According to the statement made by the Ministry, the memorandum of understanding in question includes cooperation in ensuring the adaptation of the agricultural sector to climate change, and in developing and introducing technologies especially related to climate change in the field of agriculture, post-harvest techniques and agricultural product processing, animal husbandry and crop production, sanitary and animal welfare issues, including plant, seed and veterinary certification, ensuring sustainable supply of agricultural products, biotechnology, organic farming, development of quality policy in fisheries and aquaculture and agriculture, water management in agriculture, especially monitoring of water pollution resulting from agricultural activities and efficient use of water in the agricultural sector.

It is envisaged that a working group will be formed to consult on the necessary procedures and measures to increase and develop cooperation in the mentioned areas, and that this group will hold meetings in both countries alternately when necessary.
