Zero-Carbon Pavilion Highlights Long-Term Commitment to Green Energy and Carbon Neutrality at Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition
SOCAR Turkiye took center stage at the 29th Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan, showcasing its innovative sustainability projects and ambitious carbon neutrality goals. The company’s zero-carbon emission pavilion was a focal point, attracting attention for its comprehensive display of cutting-edge technologies and commitment to reducing environmental impact. The event, held from June 4-6 at the Baku Expo Center, saw SOCAR Turkiye highlight its strategic investments in sustainability within Turkiye.
At the exhibition, which SOCAR, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, sponsored, SOCAR Turkiye presented its projects aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The pavilion featured a range of multimedia presentations and information on groundbreaking projects such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), developed by SOCAR Turkiye R&D, waste-to-product innovations, Dimethyl Ether (DME) production, and the conversion of waste plastics into valuable resources.
In its commitment to a zero-carbon future, SOCAR Turkiye meticulously calculated and neutralized the carbon emissions from all aspects of its participation in the event, including flights and logistics, through certified carbon offset projects. This effort aligns with the company’s broader goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Pioneering a Sustainable Future: From Carbon Reduction to Green Financing
SOCAR Turkiye’s sustainability strategy revolves around three core mechanisms: decarbonization, circular economy, and green financing. The company’s roadmap, spanning short, medium, and long-term goals, outlines ambitious targets, including an average annual carbon reduction of 1% by 2025 and a 40% reduction by 2035, leading to net zero emissions by 2050. This commitment involves significant efforts in energy efficiency, electrification, and resource management.
Continuing its investment in innovative technologies within the energy sector, SOCAR Turkiye aims to lead in green hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage, and other advanced projects. Additionally, the company is dedicated to social responsibility, actively engaging with diverse communities through initiatives that extend the benefits of sustainable practices.
SOCAR Turkiye’s determined steps in sustainability set a benchmark for both Turkey and the international energy industry, reinforcing its role as a leader in the transition towards a more sustainable future.
