THY carried 8.7 million passengers in August

The number of passengers carried by Turkish Airlines (THY) in August increased by 11% compared to the same month last year, reaching 8.7 million.

According to the statement made by THY Press Consultancy, the number of passengers carried by the company in August increased by 11% compared to the same period of 2022, reaching 8.7 million, and the international occupancy rate was 85.4% and the domestic occupancy rate was 92.7%.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 2.4 million in August 2022, it increased by 20.5% to 2.9 million in the same period this year.

The total offered seat kilometers (ACK), which was 20.5 billion in the August 2022 period, reached 22.2 billion with an increase of 8.6% last month.

While the cargo and mail volume carried was 148.3 thousand tons in August 2022, it was recorded as 146.9 thousand tons with a 1% decrease in the same period of 2023.

20% increase in the number of passengers

The number of passengers carried between January and August increased by 20% compared to the same period last year, reaching 56 million.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 14.7 million in the January-August 2022 period, it increased by 34% to 19.7 million in the same period of 2023.

Total passenger occupancy rate increased by 4 points in the 8 months of this year compared to the same period of 2022, reaching 82.9%. While international passenger occupancy was at 82.6%, domestic passenger occupancy was determined as 84.6%.

While AKK was 131.6 billion in the January-August period of last year, it increased by 17.7% and reached 154.9 billion in the same period of this year. In the same period, while the total transported cargo and mail volume was 1 million 114 thousand tons in 2022, it decreased by 6.9% to 1 million 37 thousand tons in 2023.

The number of aircraft in THY’s fleet increased to 428.
