SYS Group, operating under the brand Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), was awarded second place in the “Weapon Systems and Ammunition Product Group” category at the 5th Global Strategies Conference for the Defense and Aerospace Industry, held in Antalya.
According to a company statement, SYS Group—one of Türkiye’s key representatives in international defense markets—added another achievement to its growing list of global successes at the conference, where export strategies in the defense and aerospace sector were discussed in detail.
The conference evaluated the sector’s global positioning and future targets at a time of rapidly shifting trade balances, rising regional conflicts, and increasing geopolitical polarization worldwide. Awards were presented to companies that made the greatest contributions to exports across the industry and within specific categories.
SYS Group stood out in the Weapon Systems and Ammunition Product Group, reaffirming its strong position in the sector as a leading firearms manufacturer.
The award was presented on behalf of SYS Group to Business Development and Marketing Director Gençay Gençer by Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat.
SYS Group Targets Over $300 Million in Consolidated Revenue in 2026
Commenting on the award, SYS Group Chief Executive Officer Cahit Utku Aral said the company’s journey, which began at its production facility in Samsun, has gained a global dimension with operations in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Aral emphasized that the CANiK brand proudly represents Türkiye in more than 80 countries, standing for quality, reliability, and engineering excellence.
“The past year has been extremely challenging, marked by rapidly changing global trade dynamics, deepening geopolitical polarization, and growing uncertainty,” Aral said.
Highlighting that SYS Group is the largest private-sector firearms manufacturer in Türkiye’s defense exports, Aral added:
“In a year when Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry broke records by exceeding $10 billion in exports for the first time, we are especially proud to have achieved this success once again. As CANiK and SYS Group, we pursue a sustainable, high value-added, and export-oriented growth strategy that plans not only for today, but also for the future. Our consolidated revenue target of over $300 million for 2026 is a clear indicator of both our ambition in global markets and our responsibility to our country.”
