Turkiye: Credit card and debit card expenditures increased by 15% on a weekly basis

According to Central Bank data, credit card and debit card expenditures increased by 15% on a weekly basis in the week ending March 1. Card spending reached ₺262.2 billion, reaching a new record level.

While signals are being given that regulations will be made regarding credit card spending, new records continue to be recorded in card spending.

According to the data of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) for the week ending March 1, the amount of debit card and credit card transactions increased by 15% compared to the previous week and reached ₺262.6 billion. Thus, a new record was recorded in card spending. It was observed that tax and BES payments had a significant upward effect on the increase in this period, with an increase of ₺9.6 billion.
