The date has become clear for Rize-Artvin Airport

It has been reported that Rize-Artvin Airport, which is expected to be opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is planned to be put into service at the end of the year. Governor Ceber said, “A total of 100 million tons of filling will be made in the construction of the airport. As of today, approximately 97 million tons of filling has been completed. Around 100-120 thousand tons of filling is done daily. The airport entrance tag will be a tea leaf, its tower will be a tea glass, and the terminal building will be in the form of an architecture using stones and fillings unique to our region. We will see a terminal building reflecting the Eastern Black Sea architecture from the outside.”

Rize Governor Kemal Ceber told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the construction of Rize-Artvin Airport continues rapidly, reaching an average of 94% in terms of infrastructure and 97% in terms of filling.

Expressing that they are doing their best to put the airport into service at the end of the year, Ceber said, “A total of 100 million tons of filling will be done in the airport construction. As of today, approximately 97 million tons of filling has been completed. Around 100-120 thousand tons of filling is done daily.”

Stating that the superstructure works are continuing, Ceber continued as follows:

“We have reached the level of 37% there, too. We use the touches of Rize in the superstructure. The airport entrance tag will be in the form of tea leaves, the tower will be a tea glass, and the terminal building will be in the form of an architecture using stones and fillings unique to our region. We will see a terminal building reflecting the Eastern Black Sea architecture from the outside. There will be a lot of touches from Rize inside the airport as well. There will be a tea museum inside.”

Noting that when the airport is completed, it will have a runway that is 3,000 meters long and 45 meters wide, Ceber said:

“When it is finished, it will be a runway where all kinds of planes in the world can land. It is one of the most important investments not only in our country but also in the world in this sense and in the sector. An investment we can be proud of. It will be one of the most important airports of its kind in the world in terms of filling the sea. It will be an airport with all the technical and advanced systems it should have.”

Governor Ceber said that the airport, which will have a capacity of 3 million passengers per year, will serve Rize, Artvin, the Black Sea region and the country very intensively, not only in terms of transportation but also in terms of trade, tourism, agriculture, industry and culture.

Mentioning that Rize has a different climate and geographical structure, Ceber said, “Sometimes, as in disasters, we are affected by extraordinary developments. If there is no extraordinary situation, I hope we will open our airport by the end of the year. Our President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is also following very closely. Sometimes he receives daily and sometimes weekly information.”

WITH THE AIRPORT DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TOURISM POTENTIAL IS AIMED TO INCREASE

Rize-Artvin Airport, which was built in Yesilkoy and Pazar coast locations, which is 34 kilometers from the center of Rize, 54 kilometers from Hopa district center and 125 kilometers from Artvin, will be the second sea-fill airport in Turkey and Europe after Ordu-Giresun Airport.

The airport, which will be built on an international conventional scale, will have a runway of 3 thousand meters by 45 meters, a connection road called a taxiway of 265 meters by 24 meters and an apron of 300 meters by 120 meters.

With the construction of Rize-Artvin Airport, it is aimed to increase the domestic and international tourism potential by providing fast, safe and comfortable transportation by air, especially to Istanbul and Ankara, to the highlands located in the unique geography of Rize, Artvin and the Eastern Black Sea.
