Brits were the fastest in 2024 early bookings in tourism

Kavaloglu, President of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association, said, “We are receiving very serious reservations from the United Kingdom for 2024. More than 10% of reservations have been made.”

Kaan Kavaloglu, President of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association, told the AA correspondent that the activity in tourism continues in Antalya and that guests from different countries prefer the city.

Stating that the number of tourists coming to Antalya exceeded 11 million this year, Kavaloglu said, “As of August 31, Russia ranks first, Germany ranks second and England ranks third. When the Turks coming from abroad were counted in addition to the figures, we, as Antalya, surpassed the record year of 2019 as of August 31. This is really hopeful for us.”

Stating that England is a developing market for Turkiye, Kavaloglu explained that Poland, which is a very important market, comes next.

Emphasizing that the number of guests coming from England exceeded 1 million for the first time last year, Kavaloglu said, “We expected it to reach 1.5 million this year, but the latest airport crisis in England caused 140 planes to be cancelled. Despite this, they will already exceed last year’s figures. I think the number of British visitors to Antalya will approach 1.5 million again.”

“Brits are the fastest in the world”

Kavaloglu pointed out that early reservations have also started and said:

“We have started to receive the first reservations for 2024. This will be an advantage for us. The British are the fastest people in the world. UK citizens are the tourist profile that makes the earliest reservations. We are currently receiving serious reservations from the UK for 2024. Over 10% booked. There are early booking periods set for them. At least 10% of British people have made a reservation by the end of September. But this rate reaches almost 40% at the end of October. Therefore, before the year even comes, we will have completed 50% of our sales from the British market.”

Stating that healthy and safe tourism services attract attention, Kavaloglu emphasized that they do not expect the number of British tourists coming to Antalya to fall below 1.5 million.

“We expect 2024 to be the year when records are broken in tourism.”

Riza Percin, Chairman of the Mediterranean Regional Representation Board of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, said that if the Russia-Ukraine war ends, there will be very good developments in tourism.

Underlining that they are continuing the tourism season with records, Percin said, “We expect 2024 to be the year when records are broken in tourism.”

Percin pointed out that England is a rising market for Turkiye and said that they will participate and work extensively as tourism professionals and TURSAB members in the tourism fair to be held in London in November.
