The Turkish Lira continued its gains against the dollar.
Dollar/TL decreased by 0.48% to around 32.38 today. Euro/TL changed hands at 34.67. The Turkish Lira has lost very limited value by 0.14% since the beginning of April.
Analysts express the opinion that the balance in the foreign exchange market has changed in favor of the Turkish Lira in recent weeks.
Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan stated that they will follow monthly price developments closely and said, “We will continue our tight monetary policy stance until inflation expectations converge to the predicted forecast range.”
In the statement made by the Central Bank, it was stated that loss announcements in extraordinary periods are temporary and exceptional.
In March, the annual foreign trade deficit decreased by $26 billion compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to $92 billion.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek said, “Our program is working. The improvement trend in the annual foreign trade deficit has been continuing uninterruptedly for eight months.”
US banking giant Citi proposed Turkish Lira against the dollar. Citi stated that the Central Bank will focus more on macroprudential measures.
