Turkiye: Demand for villa tourism has increased

Luxury villas in Antalya, whose prices vary between ₺17 thousand and 200 thousand for 7 days, depending on the number of people and their concept, attracted great attention during the summer season.

In the city that hosts approximately 13 million tourists, Kas district, where there are more than 5 thousand holiday villas, has become the address for those who want an isolated holiday. Villa tourism, which started in the district about 15 years ago and became especially popular during the Covid-19 epidemic, has become a growing sector every year.

Luxury villas, registered under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and providing 5-star comfort, ended the season happily.

Villa tourism operator Ozgur Onder told the AA correspondent that villa tourism is an instrument of the alternative tourism sector.

Explaining that honeymoon couples, nuclear families, groups of friends or family are offered holiday opportunities in different concepts with sea and nature views for 2 to 12 people, Onder said, “99% of the villas in Kas are houses built for tourism purposes. There are villas that offer different services such as jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, cinema and game room. Businesses here have become professional.”

Onder stated that villa prices are between ₺17 thousand and 20 thousand for 7 nights for 2 people, between ₺20 thousand and 40 thousand for 4-5 people, and between ₺35 thousand 700 and ₺100 thousand for 8-10 people between 20 June and 15 September, which is considered the high season. He noted that the season in villa tourism started in April and is still continuing.

“Coffeehouses were replaced by businesses serving tourism”

Pointing out that the interest in villa tourism has increased especially after the global epidemic, Onder stated that those who want a private pool, house, sauna and prefer an isolated holiday are more aware of villa tourism after this period.

Expressing that they had a good season, Onder said, “The overnight stay rate increased every year because the families and children left happy. This year was also good, we could not respond to last minute demands, we did not have any vacant places in the high season, even in September there were vacancies in a few houses. “

Onder stated that villa tourism also makes a significant contribution to the employment of the region.

Stating that the coffeehouses in the region were replaced by businesses serving tourism, Onder said, “The people of the region either became entrepreneurs or started working in villas. As the density of guests increased, the number of businesses such as markets, cafes and breakfast halls increased. A serious economic cycle has occurred in the district.”

“There are villa options for every budget”

Tourism professional Suat Donmez said that they have been doing villa rental business for 6 years and they have seen a very serious demand especially this year.

Stating that villa tourism has become popular in Kas, Donmez stated that the occupancy rate is close to 100% despite the end of the summer season.

Stating that there is interest in villa tourism even in the winter season, Donmez continued his words as follows:

“Due to the war in the winter season, there was serious demand from Russians and Ukrainians, occupancy rates reached 60%. In the summer season, we could not meet the demands, we had a busy summer season. Those who made early reservations were able to have a holiday, while those who left it until the last minute had difficulty finding a villa. There are villa options for every budget. Their weekly salary varies between 25 thousand and 200 thousand liras.”

Donmez stated that they expect great interest in the next season and suggested making early reservations.
