Istanbul Chamber of Commerce: Retail Prices Up 3.93% in March

In Istanbul, retail prices increased by 3.93% and wholesale prices increased by 3.78% in March compared to the previous month.

According to 1995-based data of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the Istanbul Wage Earnings Index, which is an indicator of retail price movements in Istanbul, increased by 3.93% in March, and the Wholesale Price Index, which reflects wholesale price movements, increased by 3.78%.

When the data in question was examined on an annual basis, it was seen that the increase rate was 78.25% in retail and 63.21% in wholesale prices.

RATE CHANGES ON A SECTORAL BASIS

In March, compared to the previous month, retail prices increased by 8.96% in the clothing expenditure group, 8.66% in the other expenditure group, and 6.01% in household goods expenditures, 3.90% in housing expenditures, 3.62% in food expenditures, 3.05% in health and personal care expenditures, 1.06% in transportation and communication expenditures, and 0.20% in culture, education and entertainment expenditures was observed.

In wholesale prices, the increase was 7.85% in the minerals group, 5.20% in the foodstuffs group, 3.30% in the unprocessed materials group, 2.65% in the chemicals group, 0.83% in the construction materials group and 0.43% in the fuel and energy products group. No change was observed in the textile group.
