TAV Airports Holding has submitted a new investment proposal for Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia, aiming to expand the airport’s annual passenger capacity to 10 million. As part of the plan, the company has initiated negotiations with the Georgian Government to extend its current concession agreement.
The Offer: $150 Million Investment in Exchange for Concession Extension
TAV has proposed to invest approximately $150 million USD in upgrading the passenger terminal, apron, and parking facilities at Tbilisi International Airport. In return, the company is requesting an extension of the existing concession period—currently set to expire in January 2027—through at least 2031.
Final Terms to Be Determined Through Negotiations
In a statement submitted to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), TAV emphasized that the final terms of both the investment amount and the concession extension will be determined through mutual negotiations between the parties.
TAV Has Operated Tbilisi Airport Since 2005
TAV has been managing operations at Tbilisi International Airport since 2005. The airport has seen a steady rise in passenger traffic in recent years, and capacity expansion has been a recurring topic due to the region’s growing aviation demand.
This proposal signals TAV’s continued commitment to strengthening its presence in the region and supporting Georgia’s aviation infrastructure growth.
