The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) has decided to resume one-week repo auctions as part of its Turkish lira liquidity management strategy, after suspending them on March 1, 2026.
The CBRT announced in its statement titled “Press Release on Turkish Lira Liquidity Management” that it would restart one-week repo auctions, which had been suspended on March 1.
With the move, the central bank is set to conduct market funding primarily through one-week repo auctions, its main monetary policy instrument, rather than relying predominantly on the overnight interest-rate corridor.
The decision marks a shift in the CBRT’s liquidity management approach and is expected to make the one-week repo rate more prominent in the transmission of monetary policy to financial markets.
The CBRT said it would continue to closely monitor liquidity conditions and use its liquidity management tools effectively in line with its price and financial stability objectives.
The latest decision comes after the central bank had previously paused one-week repo auctions amid market volatility, with funding subsequently being conducted through overnight facilities.
