
türkiye Ekonomi Politikalari Arastirma Vakfi (TEPAV) has released the food price index data for February 2025.
According to the TEPAV Food Price Index (TEGE), February 2025 saw a 3.70% increase compared to the previous month. The monthly food inflation measured in January and February has reached its highest levels since March 2024.
In February, within the fresh fruit and vegetable category, the products with the largest price decreases were cauliflower, kivircik, and red cabbage, while pomegranate, squash, and orange prices experienced significant increases. In the categories outside fresh fruits and vegetables, the highest price increases were observed in fish, paper sugar, and pastry dough, whereas declines were noted in tea, instant coffee, and sunflower seeds.
For the period of 1–28 February 2025, as of 28 February 2025, food inflation calculated by other organizations was 5.39% using the TURK-IS kitchen inflation index and 2.55% using the ITO Wage Earners’ Subsistence Index (UGE). The annual food inflation was calculated at 30.8% with TEGE, 43.5% with the TURK-IS kitchen inflation index, and 42.4% with the ITO UGE.
