Tesla officially enters Turkish market: Models offered for sale and their prices

The United States-based electric car giant Tesla has officially entered the Turkish market. The first model that the company started to take pre-orders from Turkiye was the Model Y, which was produced in the German factory.

It has been announced that the deliveries of Model Y, which is offered for sale in three different versions, will begin in May.

With the start of taking pre-orders, it was seen that the estimated delivery dates were extended from May to October to December.

It has been reported that the orders to reach Turkiye will be from the Tesla factory in Berlin.

Tesla Turkiye CEO Kemal Gecer shared the details of the models offered for sale in Turkiye at the launch night held at Istanbul Kanyon AVM the previous night.

Those interested will also be able to test drive the Model Y exhibited in Tesla’s new pop-up store in Istanbul Kanyon AVM.

Model Y’s Turkiye prices have been announced

The versions of the Model Y that started to be ordered were the standard Model Y, Model Y Long Range and Model Y Performance variants.

The estimated sales price of the rear-wheel drive and standard-range Model Y, including SCT and VAT, was determined as ₺1 million 563 thousand. Approximately ₺441 thousand of this price consists of SCT and ₺238 thousand of VAT.

The estimated sales price of the twin-engine all-wheel drive Model Y Long Range (Model Y Long Range) is ₺1 million 634 thousand including taxes. ₺710 thousand of the price of this version, which has a range of 533 km, includes VAT and SCT taxes.

The top-of-the-line Model Y Performance version was offered for sale with an estimated price of ₺1 million 778 thousand. The twin-engine all-wheel drive Model Y Performance has a top speed of 250 km/h. The total value of the taxes on the price is approximately ₺780 thousand.

The pre-order price for all three versions was determined as ₺10 thousand.

Charging stations will be put into service

Tesla also announced the opening of a total of 30 new charging stations in Turkiye. Eight of these stations will serve on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, eight in Ankara, eight in Bolu and six in Edirne.

The charging fee for 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) at the stations will be between ₺6.9 and ₺7.7 for Tesla models. Owners of other electric vehicle brands will pay ₺8.6 for 1 kWh charging.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority in Turkiye granted Tesla a charging network operator license last month.

Tesla’s entry into the Turkish market has been expected for a long time. The CEO of the company, Elon Musk, said in 2018 that Tesla could start sales in Turkiye by the end of the year. However, this happened 5 years later, on April 4, 2023.
