The aid of the industrialists towards the earthquake zone continues uninterruptedly

The aid provided by the industrialists after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, which is described as the “disaster of the century”, are sent to the needy in the region under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

According to the written statement made by the Ministry, priority materials determined by AFAD, Turkish Red Crescent, local and foreign search and rescue teams and non-governmental organizations are delivered to the earthquake zone under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

While the industrialists’ aid to the earthquake zone continues uninterrupted, many critically important materials and tools, from caravans to multi-purpose containers, from generators to cranes, are shipped to earthquake zones on a 24-hour basis.

Aid from organized industrial zones (OIZ) administrations are prioritized at the crisis desk and sent to the earthquake zone without delay. Office-type containers with two rooms, a kitchen and a toilet were also started to be installed in disaster areas in order to provide shelter, which is the most basic need of earthquake victims.

While 5 thousand generators have been shipped to the region so far in order to both meet the electricity needs and assist in search and rescue activities, trucks and containers that have been converted into caravans for the shelter and other needs of the earthquake victims have also been delivered to the region.

100 thousand work gloves that the teams use when removing debris and that they have to change periodically because they wear out, were also sent to the region gradually.

While construction equipment such as diggers and cranes are of vital importance in order to remove the debris from the buildings and save the citizens under the collapse, 52 large-tonnage cranes were sent to the disaster area and started to be used with the support of TSE.

Led projectors and additional lighting equipment, which allow search and rescue teams to work at night, were also delivered to the region. Search and rescue and debris removal teams and 77 thousand 598 heaters for earthquake victims were delivered to the regions, while 20 thousand heaters are on the way. Many tools and equipment used by the search and rescue teams have been continuing to be delivered since the first moment of the earthquake with the coordination of the ministry.

With the coordination of AFAD and Turkish Red Crescent in 7 provinces affected by the disaster, the establishment of new warehouses where all kinds of aid materials are collected was also organized.

In order to meet the cleaning needs of earthquake victims, mobile prefabricated bathrooms and toilets have also started to be shipped to the disaster-affected areas.
