The assets of the banks reached ₺16.4 trillion in Turkiye

As of the end of April, the net profit of the banking sector for the period was ₺144 billion 699 million, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 16.98%.

The “Unconsolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector” report for April 2023 has been published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA).

According to the report, the asset size of the banking sector in April was ₺16 trillion 384 billion 707 million. While the sector’s total assets increased by ₺2 trillion 37 billion 317 million compared to the end of 2022, its proportional equivalent was 14.2%.

Compared to the end of 2022 in April, loans, the largest asset item of the sector, increased by 17.6% to ₺8 trillion 911 billion 84 million, and the total securities increased by 17.2% to ₺2 trillion 779 billion 29 million. In this period, the NPL ratio of loans stood at 1.86%.

Deposits, which are the biggest source of funds among banks’ resources, increased by 16.8% in April compared to the end of 2022 and rose to ₺10 trillion 350 billion 23 million.

In the same period, the total equity reached ₺1 trillion 565 billion 468 million with an increase of 11.4%. As of the end of April, the sector’s net profit for the period was ₺144 billion 699 million, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 16.98%.
