Speaking at the Launch of Turkiye’s 2030 Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said that Turkiye meets its energy needs with cleaner resources, thus reducing emissions and ensuring energy transformation.

Stating that the supporter of the net zero transformation on the supply side and the complement on the demand side are energy efficiency practices, Bayraktar stated that energy efficiency will be one of the most important policy tools for supply security, competitiveness of industrialists, reducing foreign dependency and minimizing the effects of climate change until 2030. .

Minister Bayraktar pointed out that Turkiye is one of the two countries that improved its energy intensity the most in the world for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, “While the global energy intensity improvement was realized as 2% on average in 2022, our country’s energy intensity decreased by 6.2%, showing a record development.”

Bayraktar stated that Turkiye has initiated a new energy efficiency movement in line with its sustainable and environmentally friendly energy policy in line with its 2053 net zero climate targets. “In this direction, we are starting to implement Turkiye’s Energy Efficiency 2030 Strategy and the Second National Energy Efficiency Action Plan, which will be implemented between 2024-2030, in order to carry forward the gains we have achieved in the Turkiye’s Century.”

Bayraktar emphasized that they determined 10 strategic goals and 23 targets within the scope of the new plan and said:

“With the implementation of our action plan, we will reduce our energy consumption by 16% and contribute to the reduction of 100 million tons of emissions by 2030. In order to achieve these targets, we will invest $20 billion in energy efficiency in the public and private sectors until 2030. In this way, we will create new job opportunities by supporting companies operating in the field of energy efficiency, and thanks to these investments, we will save energy worth $46 billion by 2040.”
