The energy import bill increased by 95.7% year-on-year in July

The amount paid by Turkiye for energy imports increased by 95.7% in July compared to the same month of the previous year and rose to $7 billion 746 million 140 thousand.

According to the temporary foreign trade statistics created by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Commerce, Turkiye’s imports in July increased by 41.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to $29 billion 240 million.

$7 billion 746 million 140 thousand of this amount was composed of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, summarized as energy imports.

In July of last year, this figure was recorded as $3 billion 958 million 89 thousand. In the said period, the import bill of the country increased due to the revival in economic activities, the increase in industrial production and the rise in energy prices in global markets.

On the other hand, crude oil imports decreased by 0.4% in July compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to 2 million 993 thousand 844 tons.
