The 6th of the Defense Industry Summits, organized by the Konya Chamber of Industry, will be held this year between 18-20 November under the name “Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings”.
Konya Chamber of Industry (KSO) President Memis Kutukcu said that the main industry companies such as Aselsan, Roketsan, Havelsan, TUSAS, TEI, TUBITAK SAGE, MKEK, and STM will participate in the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings, which will be held with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industry.
Kutukcu emphasized that the main industry companies in the sector, suppliers and companies that want to be suppliers will come together at the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings organized by the Konya Chamber of Industry. “As the Konya Chamber of Industry, we have carried out many studies so far so that our Konya companies can develop more cooperation with the main industry companies in the defense and aerospace sector. In the past years, we organized visits to key industry companies such as Aselsan, Roketsan, FNSS, MKEK with our suppliers from Konya. Again, with the defense industry summits we organized, we not only followed the latest developments and innovations in the sector, but also brought together the main industry companies and companies from Konya. At the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings, which we will hold between 18-20 November this year at the Selcuklu Congress Center with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industry, with the participation of main industry companies such as Aselsan, Roketsan, Havelsan, TAI, TEI, TUBITAK SAGE, MKEK and STM and our industrialists from Konya will exhibit their products at the stands and will be able to create new business contacts. I invite all our industrialists and stakeholders of the sector to this event.”
TURKEY’S FOURTH LARGEST EXPORTER CITY IN DEFENSE
Emphasizing that Konya continues on its way with a rising momentum in the defense and aerospace sector in his statement, Kutukcu said, “Our Konya has become the fourth largest exporter city in the sector in Turkey after Istanbul, Ankara and Eskişehir in the first 9 months of this year. Our industrialists from Konya realized $216.7 million of exports in the defense and aerospace industry in the first 9 months. Konya, in the same period, increased its exports in the sector by 155% among these four provinces and became the province with the highest increase in exports.”
INVESTMENTS IN THE SECTOR CONTINUE
Kutukcu also touched upon the strategic investments Konya has made in the sector and concluded his words as follows: “Our Konya has recently started to receive very important investments with the determination it has created in the defense and aerospace industry. The investment process, which started with the Aselsan Konya Weapon Systems Factory, which started production in the Konya Technology Industrial Zone, continues with the investment in the Turkish Weapon Test Center (Konya CIP Laboratory). Hopefully, we will receive the good news of the new investments to be made by TUBITAK in our Konya Technology Industry Zone in the coming days.”
