The highest production of cow cheese and butter in the last 10 years was made in Jan-Sept period

Butter and cow cheese production in Turkey as of the third quarter of this year increased gradually and broke the record for being the highest in the last 10 years. In the January-September period, approximately 60 thousand tons of butter and 555 thousand tons of cow’s cheese were produced.

According to the data of Turkey Statistical Institute (TUIK), butter production followed a fluctuating course in the January-September period. Despite the coronavirus epidemic, 6770 tons of butter was produced in January, 6251 tons in February, 7246 tons in March and 8087 tons in April, 7 thousand 974 tons in May, 6 thousand 376 in June, 6 thousand 114 in July, 5 thousand 779 in August and 5 thousand 177 tons in September.

Thus, the butter production In the January-September period reached 59 thousand 774 tons and increased by 110 percent compared to the same period of 2011. The production figure is recorded as the highest in the same periods of the last 10 years. In the January-September 2011 period, 28 thousand 456 tons of butter was produced.

Record in cow cheese production

There was also an increase in the amount of cow cheese produced comparing the 10-year period. In January 2020, 58 thousand 329 tons of cow cheese were produced, and 58 thousand 87 tons in February. While there was an increase in the production of cow cheese with the intense demand for foodstuffs during the epidemic period, more than 63 thousand tons of cow cheese were produced in March, April and May. Following a fluctuating course in the following months, cow cheese production was 62 thousand 245 tons in June, 60 thousand 544 tons in July and 64 thousand 451 tons in September

Thus, the amount of cow cheese produced in the January-September period of this year increased by 50.3 percent compared to the same period of 2011, reaching 554 thousand 612 tons. This figure was 368 thousand 867 tons in January-September 2011 period. According to that information, the highest production of cow cheese was seen comparing the three quarters of the last 10 years.
