A total of 97 billion cubic meters of gas was transported from TurkStream and TANAP to Turkiye and Europe

To date, approximately 97 billion cubic meters of gas has been shipped to Turkiye and Europe via the TurkStream Natural Gas Pipeline and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).

According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, 26.7 billion cubic meters of gas has been shipped to Turkiye and 30.5 billion cubic meters to Europe through the TurkStream Natural Gas Pipeline, which was opened on January 8, 2020.

Last year, 8.6 billion cubic meters of gas was delivered to Turkiye and 12.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via the said line.

TurkStream consists of two lines with a total gas carrying capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters, each of which is 15.7 billion cubic meters. Gas is transferred to Turkiye via the first line and to Europe via the second line by TurkStream Gas Transport Inc., which was established in equal partnership with GazProm Pipelines and Gas Transport Inc.

40 billion cubic meters of gas flow from TANAP

Last year, 5.8 billion cubic meters of gas was shipped to Turkiye and 11.3 billion cubic meters to Europe through TANAP, the “backbone” of the Southern Gas Corridor.

Since the pipeline started operating, a total of 20.5 billion cubic meters of gas has been transported to Turkiye and 19.5 billion cubic meters to Europe.

Thus, the amount of gas shipments made through TurkStream and TANAP since they started operating has reached the level of 97 billion cubic meters in total.

Starting from Posof on the Georgia-Turkiye border, TANAP is connected to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which carries gas to European countries on the Greek border, passing through 20 provinces, 67 districts and 600 villages.

The part of TANAP from the Georgia-Turkiye border to the exit point in Eskisehir was commissioned on 30 June 2018, while the part from Eskisehir to the Turkiye-Greece border was commissioned at the end of October 2019. With the commissioning of its facilities in Europe, commercial gas flow to Europe started via the TAP Pipeline as of 31 December 2020.
