The project to ease the traffic of Mahmutbey is put into service

The last part of the project, which will relieve the traffic of Istanbul, is put into service. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu said, “We will open the last section of our Northern Marmara Highway, one of the projects of the century, on Friday, May 21, with the honor of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”

Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, gave Istanbul good news. Minister made a statement at the opening ceremony of the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TUSAS) Bridge Interchange, which will connect the Ankara Aerospace and Aviation Specialization Organized Industrial Zone to the Anatolian Highway.

Minister Karaismailoglu stated that they increased the length of the divided road, which was 6,100 kilometers in Turkey, to over 28,200 kilometers in 2003. Karaismailoglu said, “With the increase in comfort and safety, the average speed increased from 40 kilometers to 80 kilometers. Thanks to these roads, there was an increase of 160% in vehicle mobility, but there was a decrease of up to 80% in traffic accidents. That is, we saved thousands of lives every year.”

Karaismailoglu added saying, “We will open the last section of our Northern Marmara Highway, one of the projects of the century, on Friday, May 21, with the presence of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We are opening our 10-kilometer-long road between Hasdal-Habibler in Istanbul, which contains the widest tunnel in the world with a length of 4,5 meters. When our road is opened, we will put into service a new road alternative to the heavy traffic between Hasdal-Mahmutbey intersection.”

‘WE INCREASED OUR FOREST ASSETS TO 23 MILLION HECTS’

Minister Karaismailoglu also stated that 5.3 billion saplings have met with the soil in the last 19 years and added saying, “We have increased our forest assets from 20.8 million hectares to 23 million hectares as a result of the works we have done in the last 19 years.”

He said, “Our Ministry eliminates carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to more than 2 million 500 thousand trees annually, thanks to the highways investments alone. In 2020 alone, we saved $1 billion 324 million in time, $546 million in fuel and $11 million in environmental costs. “The contribution of all our transportation projects to the environment is obvious.”

Following the speech of Minister Karaismailoglu, the ribbon was cut and TUSAS Koprulu Junction was put into service. “
